Body Scan Meditation Exercise
Learn: Learn how a body scan can help you. This practice promotes relaxation by bringing awareness to physical sensations throughout the body.
Change: Here’s a quick exercise to complete your grounding exercise.
Lie down or sit comfortably.
Slowly scan through each part of your body, starting from your toes up to your head. After you travel to the top of your body, slowly move back down again.
As you scan each body part, notice the sensations in each body part and imagine that body part relaxing as you give it permission to rest and find stillness.
Notice any tension or discomfort you are experiencing as you scan your body.
If you feel discomfort in any area, take a deep inhale and imagine sending the energy of your breath as you exhale into that body part to allow it to relax. Imagine providing healing and comfort to each area as you begin to release it with each subsequent breath.
Grow: This Body Scan exercise helps release tension and improves body awareness. The exercise is especially useful after long study sessions, a long day at work, or encountering stressful events.
